While presenting the award, President and CEO of Utah’s Promise and United Way of Salt Lake, Bill Crim said, “Mark and Kathie Miller have been steadfast supporters of South Salt Lake for many years. Their personal commitment of time, resources, and expertise to foster educational excellence and opportunity is truly unique.”

The Millers have been critical partners in many education initiatives over the years. Crim highlighted their particular passion for promoting math proficiency and the success of the recent summer Math Boost program in South Salt Lake. The six-week, intensive program used the iReady software to support math tutoring for incoming 7th graders at Granite Park Jr. High. As a result of this intervention, 79% of the students in the program improved by at least one grade level, and 50% of the participants improved by two or more grade levels.

Crim thanked the Millers for their steadfast commitment when he said, “Promise South Salt Lake is deeply grateful for the Miller’s visionary and relentless efforts to empower our youth.”

Congratulations to Mark and Kathie for receiving this award. The Millers are not just philanthropists, but true partners who are invested in building a brighter future for the kids and families in the community.
